The HudsonAlpha Educational Outreach team is launching a new professional development workshop that will be offered for the first time this fall. At Middle School GPS, Alabama middle school science educators will experience free one-day workshops that emphasize the genetics components of the Alabama 7th grade Life Science course of study, specifically standards 12, 13 and 14.
The regional workshops provide updated content knowledge and resources to support Alabama middle school life science educators. During the event, which will be offered four times throughout the year in locations across the state, HudsonAlpha educators will lead teachers through a full day of utilizing models, cutting edge genomics research and pedagogical strategies to bring real-world genetics content to their classrooms.
Teachers will leave the workshop with eight hours of professional learning, digital resources and a Chromosock® kit to take back to their classroom. Additionally, teachers will be reimbursed for their substitute costs, up to $70. Registration is limited to educators who teach full-time for an Alabama public middle school.
Middle School GPS locations include Huntsville, Mobile, Auburn and Alabaster. Visit hudsonalpha.org/middle-school-gps for more information and to register. Registration is FREE and spots will fill quickly! Sign up today for a workshop near you!
