Meet Lakely Stapler. She has a very rare genetic disorder called Pitt-Hopkins syndrome.
Those affected with Pitt-Hopkins have an intellectual disability along with the potential for breathing problems, seizures and gastrointestinal issues. She had this disorder for thirteen years before her family found an answer as to what exactly her condition was. That’s when Lakely’s neurologist referred her to the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.
