Huntsville Fraternal Order of Eagles donate to HudsonAlpha’s Memory and Mobility Program

The Huntsville Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) and the Women’s Auxiliary made recent gifts totaling more than $15,000 to support the HudsonAlpha Foundation’s Memory and Mobility (M&M) Program. Since 2017, the F.O.E. has contributed more than $30,000 to accelerate research in neurological diseases at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

The M&M Program was established by the HudsonAlpha Foundation to fuel research into the genetic factors of neurological diseases. All neurological diseases are as interconnected as the nervous system itself. Finding answers to one disease may lead to answers about many.

“We have been impressed with HudsonAlpha and the Memory and Mobility Program,” said James Deitsch, F.O.E. Jr. Past Alabama State Worthy President. “With our contribution going directly towards the research of the neurological disorders we already support; we are very happy to be able to start seeing some of the results of this research. Our motto is ‘People Helping People’ and we strive to do that within our community.”

Huntsville Aerie 3263 was started more than 50 years ago in a small house in Huntsville, Ala. As an Aerie and Auxiliary of around 1,700 members combined, they have donated over $150,000 to local charities in and around Huntsville. Donations are collected from members through specific fundraisers, charity events, desert nights, and other fundraising events.

Since 1898, the F.O.E. has played a key role in the creation of Mother’s Day, Social Security, Medicare and more, thanks to a dedicated membership base working daily throughout the United States and Canada to help friends and neighbors in need. Every day, in more than 1,600 locations throughout North America, Eagles are hard at work raising nearly $10 million annually.
