Epigenomic analysis of complex human traits and diseases

Devin Absher, PhD, joined the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology as a faculty investigator in 2008. His research focuses on application of genomics to complex diseases and traits, including genome-wide association studies and epigenetic studies. Absher serves as the Institute’s Director for Genomic Health. Other projects include multiple studies of autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular disease and the dietary and metabolic risk factors for heart disease. Absher also has a keen interest in cancer epigenetics as well as aging and the effects of aging on the epigenome. Before joining HudsonAlpha, Absher was a senior scientist at the Stanford Human Genome Center. Absher earned his PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Emory University in Atlanta in 2000. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in human genetics at Stanford University in 2005.
