Traditional breeding and crop improvement are undergoing a transformation as these disciplines expand to include genomic based, large-scale DNA genotype information, comparative functional insight from expression analyses, and new tools for selecting superior gene combinations while breeding crops to meet the challenges of population growth, declining natural resources and climate variability. For this meeting, we will bring together leading researchers applying genomic based techniques to crop improvement and plant molecular breeding experts, along with traditional breeders who are interested in applying these techniques within their crops of interest.
