What is DNA? How can it be used to diagnose and treat diseases like cancer or Parkinsons, or even identify alternative energy sources? Find out the answers to these and other questions during the fall session of Biotech 101, a free, introductory course offered by the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and sponsored by ServisFirst Bank.
According to Dr. Neil Lamb, director of educational outreach at HudsonAlpha, Biotech 101 provides a unique opportunity for the greater Huntsville community to learn about genetics and biotechnology, and their applications to society. “Participants learn from world-class scientists who are directly involved in tomorrow’s breakthroughs,” he noted.
Registration is required and space is limited. Classes meet on five consecutive Tuesdays, beginning August 24 and ending September 21. Classes will be held at the Jackson Conference Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at the midpoint of each session. The Jackson Conference Center is adjacent to the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology at the corner of Genome Way and Moquin Drive in Cummings Research Park.
