2014 Spring Benefit for Disorders of the Immune System

Are you healthy? How do you know?

Most of us know we are healthy by the way we feel. Typically, that same impulse lets us know if we are unhealthy.

But what if we could find out about diseases before they grow inside of us?

This is the direction we are headed through immunogenomics.

Immunogenomics is the application of DNA sequencing technologies and analysis of the human genome in order to understand the immune system and origins of disease.

HudsonAlpha’s sixth annual Spring Benefit — Thursday, April 24 — will focus on disorders of the immune systems and immunogenomics, one of biotech’s most exciting and increasingly relevant fields.

Attendees of the institute’s signature fundraiser will learn how innovative solutions created by HudsonAlpha scientists are helping everyone see health — and the human immune system — more clearly.

Faculty Investigator Jian Han, Ph.D., is painting a colorful portrait of health through the Repertoire 10K Project. Han and R10K collaborators are creating a portrait gallery of 100 significant diseases that will become a public reference resource for diagnosing diseases earlier and more effectively.

The innovative analysis may also help identify better targets for drug therapies or vaccine development.

The 2014 Spring Benefit for immunogenomics will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception in the HudsonAlpha atrium, followed by dinner and program at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Center, and a post-event reception with desserts, coffees and liqueurs in the atrium.

Individuals who would like to support HudsonAlpha’s immunogenomics efforts through this event may purchase tickets. Business owners are invited to join the generous corporations listed below as event sponsors.
