Middle School GPS

Middle School GPS provides Alabama public middle school science educators an opportunity to engage with activities that emphasize the genetics components of the Alabama 7th Grade Life Science Course of Study. Attendance at these sessions is at no cost to the educator or school system. These regional professional learning sessions provide updated content knowledge and resources to support Alabama middle school life science educators.

HudsonAlpha educators will guide teachers through a full day of utilizing models, introducing cutting-edge genomics research and implementation of pedagogical strategies that will allow participants to bring real-world genetics content to their classrooms.

For this fourth round of Middle School GPS Workshops, Back to Basics, educators will engage with genetics content focused on the Alabama 7th grade Life Science Course of Study. Aimed at bringing science content to life, these activities support teaching foundational genetics concepts. Teachers will leave with seven hours of professional learning credit and various resources to take back to their classroom. Additionally, schools and districts can be reimbursed up to $80 for substitute costs.

Registration is limited to educators who teach full-time in an Alabama public school and who are teaching one or more sections of 7th Grade Life Science.
