BioAlabama, a statewide organization representing Alabama’s bio related industries, research scientists, clinicians and business professionals, will host its Annual Meeting Wednesday, May 11 from 9:00am – 3:00 pm at the Westin Birmingham.

Keynote speakers will include Governor Robert Bentley and Daniel White, CEO of Clearside BioMedical. Additionally, a panel discussion on emerging innovations will be moderated by Marshall Schreeder, CEO of Conversant BIO, a HudsonAlpha associate company. Peggy Sammon, CEO of Genecapture; and AJ Singhal, iXpress Genes (also  HudsonAlpha associate companies), will also participate in panel discussoins.

Carter Wells, HudsonAlpha’s vice president for economic development, serves as Chairman of BioAlabama.

“The mission of BioAlabama is to promote biotechnology innovation by creating a favorable scientific, business and legislative environment that will facilitate the growth of emerging and existing companies– and also attract new biotech opportunities to Alabama,” Wells said. “The annual meeting focuses on identifying emerging business, talent and innovation right here in our state.”

Other HudsonAlpha representatives at the meeting will include Maureen Mack, board member; and Sean McKinney, who will be highlighted in the student spotlight portion of the program.
