Huntsville, Ala. — HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville will be featured in the national television program American Graduate Day, which brings together journalists, celebrities and thought leaders to raise awareness of programs and institutions focused on education.
American Graduate Day airs live from WNET studios in New York Saturday, October 3 from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm CDT. Locally, Alabama public television stations will carry the broadcast.
Neil Lamb, PhD, Vice President for Educational Outreach, will discuss HudsonAlpha’s education programs and efforts to grow a genomics-literate society.
“Genetics and genomics are burgeoning fields of study, and we need to inspire and grow a workforce in those fields. In addition, all students will need basic genomics knowledge to make informed decisions about the tests we take, the foods we eat, and how we pursue better health,” Dr. Lamb said.
Liz Worthey, PhD, Director of Informatics at HudsonAlpha, will also be featured on the program and will address opportunities and education in computational and informatics-based fields.
Merrimack Hall, a Huntsville-based center that provides visual and performing arts education and cultural activities to children and adults with special needs, also will be featured in American Graduate Day.
