Paul Gierow, owner and president of GATR Technologies®, recently gave $25,000 to support HudsonAlpha’s mission of genetic research, educational outreach and economic development. "The people of this community have given me and GATR so much, I wanted to give back,” said Gierow. “When I knew our company would have the opportunity to give a substantial gift, I looked to HudsonAlpha. Their work will not only help our community, but the research will help people around the world.”

Gierow’s generous gift salutes HudsonAlpha co-founder, Lonnie McMillian. McMillian has supported many entrepreneurs in the North Alabama area, including GATR. “Lonnie is a tremendous advocate for this area and it’s a privilege to honor him in this way,” said Gierow.

HudsonAlpha is grateful for GATR’s donation, which will be used to continue the institute’s mission.

GATR Technologies® recently made local headlines for philanthropic contributions to Haiti’s recovery efforts. The Huntsville-based company supplied communications through its inflatable antenna systems and support personnel. The portable, lightweight satellite equipment donated by GATR provided high-speed bandwidth, which immediately gave survivors, media and recovery crews texting and broadcast capabilities, as well as Internet access.
