Battle of the Buffalo
Approximately 5,000 pounds of chicken wings were consumed at Big Spring International Park April 12th. Battle of the Buffalo, a cooking competition organized by the University of Alabama in Huntsville chapter of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, raised nearly $30,000 for HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation to support cancer research, education and patient assistance.
Our friends at Century BMW hosted a grand opening of their new state-of-the-art facility at 3810 University Boulevard in Huntsville. HudsonAlpha was invited as a guest nonprofit organization to mingle and share information with guests at the event. Thank you for including us!
HudsonAlpha scientist shaves head for St. Baldrick’s Foundation
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation hosted the “Live Bald” at Straight to Ale brewery in Huntsville to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research. The annual event features live music, food, games and yes…people shaving their heads. HudsonAlpha’s Dr. Le Su was among the many cancer supporters, researchers and survivors getting his head shaved this weekend. Su was awarded a St. Baldrick’s grant in 2016 for his research at the Institute. More than $24,000 was raised at the “Live Bald” event, a $10,000 increase over last year.
