image01Members of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) presented a $1,000.00 gift to the HudsonAlpha Foundation to support work in cancer research.

The donation is from the Battle of the Buffalo, an annual chicken wing festival held at Big Spring Park. Since 2009, Battle of the Buffalo has been held every year in memory of Paul “Fish” Salmon. Paul was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006 and underwent treatment at the Clearview Cancer Institute. He was a brother of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and a senior at UAH when he passed away in 2007. The Battle of the Buffalo brings together local restaurants and amateur cooks in a competition for the tastiest wings in the Tennessee Valley. This year, the Battle of the Buffalo brought together more than 2,200 community members, served over 40,000 wings, and resulted in over $20,000 donated to charities.
