How do I contact the GTAC staff?

Who is eligible to apply to GTAC?
High school teachers (1) currently teaching at least one general biology course in the state of Alabama at a public school and (2) anticipate teaching one general biology course in the upcoming school year. GTAC is specifically geared toward high school general biology and will focus on the genetics-based components for the Alabama Course of Study in Biology.
What is the time commitment for GTAC?
GTAC officially begins on Sunday, June 16, 2013 with registration between 1:00-4:00 PM. The program is designed to last two full weeks and will end on Friday, June 28, 2013 around 3:00 PM.
What is the cost associated with GTAC?
HudsonAlpha is committed to offering high quality professional development that is both useful in the classroom and accessible for educators in Alabama; therefore, there is no cost to the educator or his/her employing school. HudsonAlpha will provide room, board, a modest stipend and a collection of materials and resources related to genetics and biotechnology for each educator attending GTAC.
Is housing available as part of GTAC?
HudsonAlpha will provide housing for all GTAC participants at no cost to the participant or employing school system. This is a residential academy, and even local teachers are to utilize housing during this time. Late evening events and group project work are an integral part of the GTAC experience. Housing is provided for the GTAC participant only, not spouses or family.
When will applications be available?
Online applications will be available at hudsonalpha.org/education/pd/gtac December 5, 2012 – February 20, 2013. Applications will not be available after this date, and no late applications will be reviewed or considered.
What information do I need for the application?
You will be asked a variety of questions that help us get a clear picture of you and the school at which you teach. You will need to provide basic demographic information about yourself, your school and your education. Additionally, you will need to provide a brief, 500 word or less, personal statement that addresses why you want to attend GTAC, how you see GTAC benefiting you and your students, and any other information you feel makes you an outstanding candidate. While filling out the application, you are also encouraged to upload your letter of support from your principal as a .pdf document. The letter of support can alternatively be mailed, but must be received prior to the close of applications on February 20, 2013.
What should go into a letter of support from my principal?
The Letter of support should be from your current principal at the school in which you are employed. The principal should address the following items in the letter of support:
- How long has the applicant been employed with the school system and in what capacity?
- What about the applicant gives you confidence that he/she will benefit from GTAC?
- How do you see GTAC benefiting the applicant, the students and the school system?
- Any additional information that might be useful.
The applicant is encouraged to submit this at the time of online application by uploading it as a .pdf file. Alternatively, letters of support will be accepted via post addressed to:

What happens to my application if it is missing information?
Incomplete applications will not be considered for GTAC. Please make sure that all application fields have been filled before submitting your online application and that you have sent your letter of support from your principal. Aside from the letter of support, printed versions of the application will not be accepted or considered.
When and how can I expect to hear if I have been chosen for GTAC?
All applicants will be notified of status via email or phone by March 1, 2013. Inquiries regarding acceptance of individual applications prior to that date will not be entertained. If you need to withdraw your application at any time, please email email@example.com.
