HudsonAlpha proudly partners with Sci-Quest to offer biotechnology-focused summer camp opportunities for middle school age students. With two levels of summer camp offerings, we provide an experience that is both educational and fun regardless of prior knowledge in genetics and biotechnology.

Code of Life (Basic Camp)

Enter the world of one of the fastest growing fields of science: biotechnology. In this camp, learn about the structure of DNA and how DNA codes for proteins, such as enzymes and Green Fluorescent protein. Students will apply what they learn to make glow-in-the dark bacteria, and learn how this fascinating technology is being used by scientists today for a better tomorrow.

Beyond the Basics: Transforming DNA

In this exciting week-long camp, young scientists will work together to learn and apply basic molecular biology techniques to design a bio-indicator to detect pollution in the river of a peaceful fictitious land. Students will build on the experience acquired in the previous camp using biotechnology tools and equipment to take their explorations to the next level.
