HudsonAlpha Hosts NIH Grant Writing Workshop

North Alabama small business leaders learned more about the federal grant writing process and how to avoid common pitfalls today in a workshop held at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.

Presented by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama and the Alabama Launchpad program, the workshop focused on grants from the National Institutes of Health in an effort to help more Alabama companies take advantage of federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBTT) programs.

“We are glad to work with EDPA and Alabama Launchpad to bring workshops like this to HudsonAlpha for the benefit of our resident associate companies and other small businesses who can take advantage of their knowledge and experience with seeking federal grants,” said Carter Wells, HudsonAlpha Vice President for Economic Development.

“We want to see life sciences businesses grow in Huntsville and Alabama, and partnering with organizations like Alabama Launchpad is one way we can facilitate that growth.”

In attendance were representatives from HudsonAlpha associate companies Diatherix, Leavendary, Gene Capture, Foresight Biosciences and iCubate; also, the North Central Alabama Regional Council of Governments, CAJA of Madison County, SmartQ Designs and Russel Hill Cancer Foundation.
